The first crowdfunding contest of its kind,#BeHIPGive rewarded Latino-led, Latino-serving nonprofit organizations for running successful crowdfunding projects on HIPGive.org by offering matching funds provided by the Western Union Foundation. Winning organizations engaged the highest number of individual donors and demonstrated the most support on popular social networking sites. Six matching grants in total were awarded to winning nonprofits.

The #BeHIPGive crowdfunding contest was divided into two categories; organizations with operating budgets over $500,000 and organizations with operating budgets under $500,000.

The following prizes were awarded:

GROUPS WITH AN OPERATING BUDGET OF MORE THAN $500,000

· Greatest Number of Individual Donors: El Centro Hispano ($10,000)
To expand their North Carolina based free Pre-K program to prepare low-income Latino children aged 1-5 to have a successful kindergarten experience.

· Second Greatest Individual of Donors: Student Action with
Farmworkers  ($5,000)
To provide on-the-job training in their field of study for 5 young people to become leaders in the farmworker movement in the South.

· Greatest number of Facebook Likes and Shares: Norris Square
Neighborhood Project ($1,500)
To revitalize Las Parcelas, an urban oasis in Philadelphia and cultural garden that inspires, educates, and empowers.

GROUPS WITH AN OPERATING BUDGET LESS THAN $500,000
· Greatest Number of Individual Donors: HACAN ($5000)
To strengthen the parenting skills of new immigrant families predominantly from Latin American countries living in Northern Virginia.
· Second Greatest Individual of Donors: Raices Culturales
Latinoamericanas, Inc  ($2500)
To create a community mural in Philadelphia with renowned artist Cesar Viveros in collaboration with Mural Arts Program.

Greatest number of Facebook Likes and Shares: Museo de las Americas ($1,000)

To provide K-6th grade students from the Denver area who are disadvantaged with 3-weeks of visual art, music, dance and theater classes as part of the summer camp program.
