GobiernoUSA Goes Mobile

GobiernoUSA goes mobil!

Travel to other countries, and you’ll see how big Mobile outreach is – not smart phones, but SMS.

Governments and their constituencies are realizing that mobile is a successful way to reach technologically challenged communities.  Dub it as participatory citizenry or whatever snazzy term you can insert, but we think this is just smart interpretation and execution of real data.

From our sister site (HPRblog):

The U.S. General Services Administration launched a mobile version of GobiernoUSA.gov, the official portal of the U.S. government in Spanish with access to a variety of government websites, programs and services. As part of the federal government’s ongoing effort to make information more accessible to all Americans, the public can now use mobile devices to more easily search for government information on such popular topics as employment, government benefits, food safety and education. The mobile site is accessible at http://m.gobiernousa.gov.

“Given the penetration of mobile devices, particularly in Hispanic communities, this is the natural evolution in providing information to the public anywhere, anytime, and in Spanish,” said Martha Dorris, GSA’s Deputy Associate Administrator for Citizen Services. ”Through m.gobiernousa.gov users can easily and immediately find government information to make decisions affecting their lives, such as  checking changes at airport security checkpoints,  filing taxes for free or finding student financial assistance.
