Karl Rivera is not your ordinary teen. As a blogger he presents a fresh perspective on technology and social media. As a photographer he takes dynamic photos that resonate deeply within the viewer. As a speaker he delivers with passion and confidence. And as a teen he refuses to fall into the stereotype. He strives to break molds, and set an example for teens and even adults that come after him.

HISPZ: What kind of things set you apart from other teens?
It’s really only one thing: Confidence. I believe in what I do and in what I can become. Too many teens care what others have to say and it limits them.
HISPZ: What is it about your photography that makes it so dynamic?
To me photography is about capturing life through your lens, more than it is about capturing beauty. I want my viewers to feel like they’re there when they see my photos. I want them to feel the wind, the dew on their face, and the dirt under their feet. I don’t get stuck in ruts. I take pictures of everyday occurrences, not just the ‘pretty’ things
HISPZ: What message would you want other teens to get from your blog?
You could do it too! There’s no difference between me and you. You can do everything that I’m doing with determination and moxie.
HISPZ: What was your childhood ambition?
I thought I wanted to be famous but now that I think back I was using the wrong word; I didn’t want people screaming my name or secretly taking pictures of me, (how weird would that be?! ). I wanted to be influential. I wanted people to listen to what I had to say and truly take it to heart. HISPZ: Tell us about three people that you admire and why? I actually did a blog post on this! The three people would definitely have to be Daniel Bru for his school and work balance, Sarah Cooley for her inspiring blog, and Corvida Raven for her impeccable social skills- online and off. You can find the whole post HERE!
HISPZ: What is your favorite life or business quote?
“Everybody wants to ride in the limo with you but what you want is someone who will ride in the bus with you when the limo breaks down.” -Oprah Winfrey Oprah hit it on the nail with this one.
HISPZ: Tell us about your educational background?
I’m still in high school working hard to get into a great college!
HISPZ: What is one of the best lessons your parents taught you about life?
‘Not everything is what it seems.’ I’ve learned to dig a little bit deeper and always ask why.
HISPZ: What is the most important business habit you have?
Time Management: Maintaining a blog is one thing but maintaining a blog while working and keeping up a A average isn’t an easy task.
HISPZ: What is the best book you’ve recently read and why?
He Will Carry You by Angie Smith Angie’s strength makes inspirational an understatement.
HISPZ: What do you believe helps differentiate your blog/websites from others?
